(Click on game name to see a youtube video on the music)
Action: For a piece of action the composer must supply music that will suit it I think that fast pace, loud and obstruct music it suitable for this. Instruments, which could play this kind of music, are electric guitars, keyboards and some strings. An example of this is: Dragon Age Inquisition: Fight I think this is effective because it gives out suspense and makes you truly feel involved.
Suspense: I think that a piece of suspense music should involve very subtle but also music, which provides a tense. Instruments, which would play this kind of music, are violins, cellos and little plays on bass guitars. An example of this is: Resident Evil 2: Suspense I think this is a effective piece of music because it gives you goose bumps and will make you feel a bit scared.
Intro Sequence: I think good opening sequence music should be something that will make you want to play the game even more than you intended and should make you feel involved in the music. Some instruments that could give this effect are electric guitars and bass guitars as well as brass instruments to liven up the scene. An example of this is: The Crew: Introduction I think this is an effective piece of music because it gives out a vibe and makes you want to play the game.
Closing/credit sequence: A closing sequence should have sad music but adventurous music to then make you feel proud of what you have done and make you want to play the game again. Some instruments that could give this effect are a quiet guitar and maybe a piano. An example of this is: Battlefield 4: Ending Song I think this an effective piece of music because in the end of the game you choose for someone to die and the music fits it and makes you sad but then makes you want to play the campaign again.
Plot Advancement/Cut Scene Music: Good cut scene music should make you feel involved in what the character is doing or saying and make you feel comfortable. Some instruments that could give this effect are guitars and maybe some brass instruments and some string instruments. An example of this is: WWE: Cut Scene Song I think this is an effective piece of music because during the cut scene it fits what the story line is saying.
Interactive adaptive music: In order for a composer or songwriter to create a piece of interactive or adaptive music, they need to think about what is happening on screen and what could possibly be causing it to change as well as how it causes it to change. An example of a piece of interactive/adaptive music is linked. Disney Fantasia: Music evolved. I believe that this is a good piece of interactive/adaptive music because it allows the player to change the song from a select few mixes as well as the piece’s dynamics changing depending on how well the player is doing.
